6.1 - Introduction to FOM Agility

VR-Link has been designed with FOM agility in mind.

It comes with built-in support for different versions of the RPR FOM, but it can be extended or configured in many different ways to work with changes or extensions to the RPR FOM, or to work with unrelated FOMs. FOM agility is implemented through a FOM Mapper.

This chapter explains how VR-Link's architecture enables FOM agility and how you can extend or configure VR-Link to work with a variety of FOMs. VR-Link includes several examples of extending VR-Link for FOM agility. They are documented in the class documentation. 7 - The VR-Link Code Generator, explains how to use the VR-Link Code Generator to create new interaction and object classes automatically, rather than by hand as described in this chapter.
