VR-Link Examples

VR-Link is distributed with a number of examples.

These examples can be useful as test federates, or just starting points in for VR-Link development.

Simple examples showing how to connect to an exercise:

• Listen - A simple example that listens to an exercise. Listen prints out information about the first Entity it discovers.
• Talk - A simple example that publishes an object in an exercise. Talk publishes a stripped down F18 that flies in a straight line.

More complex examples:

• F18 - A complex F18 example that shows interactions and emitter systems in a full federate.
• Embark - A simple example which embarks a helicopter on an aircraft carrier.

Other Specific Functionality Examples:

• ListenC - Listen for the C language. Shows how to use VR-Link with C++ wrappers.
• Threading - A simple program to show VR-Link threading classes.
• Articulated Parts - A simple function which manipulates Articulated Parts.
• Performance Measuring - A simple function which uses a high resolution timer to measure performance for some code.
• Link 16 Helper Classes - Functions that demonstrate how to use the Link 16 helper classes for Radio Transmitter and Signal classes.
• Replacing the dead-reckoner/smoother - Functions that demonstrate how to replace the dead-reckoner or smoother for reflected entities.

• Environmental Process - An example for the Environmental Process Object.

HLA Examples

Simple examples using Special HLA features:

• DDM Talk - A modified version of the talk example that uses DDM.
• DDM Listen - A modified version of the listen example that uses DDM.
• Regulator (Time Managed Talk) - A modified version of the talk example that uses TM.
• Constrained (Time Managed Listen) - A modified version of the listen example that uses TM.
• ListenEvolved - A simple example that demonstrates the use of Create and Join FOM Modules. It adds a join FOM module to the FDD that contains an Update Rate entry. It subscribes to Entities at that reduced Update Rate. ListenEvolved prints out information about the first Entity it discovers, including the Name of the producing Federate if provided by the RTI.

HLA FOM Mapping Examples

• FOM Mapper - A FOM Mapper for a very simple FOM.
• TAG Modification Example - How to encode/decode the User Tag in a FOM Mapper.
